J.W.'s reliance on Matthew 24:14
by The Fall Guy invirtually every j.w.
will gladly tell you that matthew 24:14 proves that only they are god's true people/religion, because they are the only people preaching the good news worldwide today.
crucially, they double-down on this lame bet by adding that their worldwide preaching proves another wtbts teaching, namely, that we are living in "the last days.

Smiddy3 - The Greek word βασιλεία translated as 'kingdom' at Matthew 24:14, means any/all of the following;
royal power, kingship, dominion, rule,
not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom,
of the royal power of Jesus as the triumphant Messiah,
of the royal power and dignity conferred on Christians in the Messiah's kingdom,
a kingdom, the territory subject to the rule of a king,
used in the N.T. to refer to the reign of the Messiah. (Strong's Interlinear)

Virtually every J.W. will gladly tell you that Matthew 24:14 proves that only they are God's true people/religion, because they are the only people preaching the good news worldwide today. Crucially, they double-down on this lame bet by adding that their worldwide preaching proves another WTBTS teaching, namely, that we are living in "the last days." (the same last days Russell predicted over 140 years ago!!!!!)
In every instance in Matthew chapter 24 where Jesus used the term 'you', he was referring to his 1st century disciples (including their contemporaries) who had asked him the questions in verse 3. Verse 34 confirms this fact when Jesus said 'this' generation – not 'that'. (future)
1) At verse 14, Jesus revealed what 'this' generation would witness before the end came, namely, that the good news of the kingdom would be “preached in all the earth.” (Greek - οἰκουμένη - "the portion of the earth inhabited by the Greeks, in distinction from the lands of the barbarians; the Roman empire, all the subjects of the empire" - Strong's Lexicon)
2) Scripturally, Jesus words proved true for 'this' generation, as Paul's words 28 years later confirm; “...the hope of that good news that you heard and that was preached in all creation under heaven.” (Colossians 1:23)
3) Jesus then told his disciples ('this' generation) that a 'great tribulation' which would never occur again, would then unfold. That tribulation came & went between between 66-70 C.E.
J.W.'s should be comforted to know that Jesus never said anything about that great tribulation having “a greater fulfilment” in the future. The elders should be able to explain these contradictions to the flock.

Proverbs 13:12 - "Expectation postponed makes the heart sick."
Who exactly created and provided the "expectation" for J.W.'s? Yup, Messrs Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, Franz, etc. - and now the 7 dwarfs in Warwick - all contradicting & refuting what Jesus said at Acts 1:7.
Yes CCOJW, you've certainly made millions sick for over 100 years with your false prophecy about "the end."
Thanks for the link B.B. - but no thanks!!! :) Don't want to spoil my Sunday morning.

The boys in Pennsylvania- The real power behind Watchtower
by UnshackleTheChains ini am quite interested in something mike and kim said in their video when talking about why their you tube videos are being taken down.
in their video below, at around 35 seconds.
mike say's that he has being trying to tell people that the boys in pennsylvania are the real power behind watchtower - not the governing body?.

IMO, the WTBTS of Pennsylvania & New York emulates every other multi-billion dollar organization on earth by being pyramidal in corporate structure and financial duplicity.
As in many such cases, the real power-brokers will invariably remain anonymous, hidden by their chosen front-men. And this is what the CCOJW governing body truly is, because the WTBTS is financially more dependent than ever on the religious corporation's tentacle than it is on their ever-decreasing publishing entity.
Perhaps this is one of the marketing reasons why the "faithful slave" of the CCOJW (not the WTBTS) has been pushed into the limelight and into the psyche of J.W.'s in recent years.
Let the people see & hear the future heavenly "kings and priests." It will encourage them to part with their cash.

Out of the world, into the Truth
by apalro infor some background - i studied on & off as a child with a jehovah's witness who has been patiently working on lots of our family for more than a decade and never gave up on any of us.
as a middle-schooler and a highschooler, my love for jehovah and any association with my childhoood bible teacher... faded.

Apairo, welcome to the site. Some members here will only criticise & ridicule you for having any kind of faith, while others will try to be constructive and sincerely demonstrate scripturally & factually how the WTBTS is not what it presents itself as - God's chosen organization.
Do serious research into Biblical topics here before your baptism, because after you've done it you will soon discover that you have dedicated yourself to serving the WTBTS - not Jehovah.
If you think I'm lying, ask an elder one or two questions after your next meeting and see what reaction you get. After you get baptised, you'll be punished for asking such questions.
Try these two:
1) Why does "the faithful slave" say that foreigners were only beneficiaries of the Law Covenant and not participants, when Deuteronomy 29:10-15 states clearly that they were?
2) Why does "the faithful slave" say that the Catholic confessional is wrong, but J.W.'s are compelled to confess their sins to elders? Jesus never said anyone was to admit their sins to elders after being confronted by a witness. (Matthew 18:15-17)
Don't walk into such a situation with your eyes and mind closed.

I'm so confused, help?
by Ponyo ini want to share my story.
(might be a tad long).
i have no idea where i stand anymore regarding being a jw and where i stand in my marriage.. im 28 years old and the years are certainly ticking by.

Ponyo, firstly, you could be going through what many people do in later years - dreaming of a past relationship and wondering "What if?" No couple will sustain the same initial excitement & passion for many years, and some will have affairs to compensate for the "lack" in their life. You appear too have a good husband, family & life. Treasure what you have and be thankful for your memories - but don't let memories and fantasies destroy what you know & love.
Secondly, you said, "I don't know what to believe. It's always been the truth for me, I've never believed otherwise. And if the organization has faults, well I think it's because it's made of imperfect men?"Wrong! The WTBTS hierarchy - from the G.B. down to the elders - will not be so loving and considerate if you exhibit faults because you're imperfect. The organization will punish you severely. Do some research on this site regarding numerous teachings we were given, and then decide if the org teaches "the truth." If you don't dig, you'll never find. Wrong! The WTBTS hierarchy - from the G.B. down to the elders - will not be so loving and considerate if you exhibit faults because you're imperfect. The organization will punish you severely. Do some research on this site regarding numerous teachings we were given as J.W.'s, and then decide if the org teaches "the truth." If you don't dig, you'll never find. If you'd like some genuine examples - to save you hunting - P.M. me.
I hope you can resolve your anxieties, and enjoy life even more.

PERSECUTION (and I tell you why I named this topic title)
by HiddlesWife ini've noticed that even though i'm inactive, i'm getting treated very badly by a number people inside the borg and outside of it.
(1) from inside: various brothers and sisters from the cong i'm associated with/occasionally attend are being influenced--especially by pioneers, a couple of mss and their family members--to shun me, my siblings and my cousins.
three (3) of my close friends in the cong (two who are developing doubts) are really beginning to feel "the heat" from these "popular/privilege of service" ones.

Always remember that all the people you've described have mental faculties that are seriously warped, and as such, you'd benefit your own mental well-being by strictly limiting any contact with them to "necessary business" only. Discuss nothing personal with such ones, and make new friends elsewhere.

Waking up to TTATT: Blessing or Curse?
by Jules Saturn inif you take the red pill, you'll have knowledge, you'll be awakened, aware of reality, you'll have freedom.. if you take the blue pill, you stay in your bubble, wearing rose colored glasses, and feel security in an illusion.. taking the red pill isn't something that's easy to do.
to accept that everything around you is an illusion built up on lies or half truths.
but hey, it might feel good to be aware and break free from this illusion.
-
The Fall Guy
Many/most J.W's have invested every aspect of their lives in the cult, and will automatically respond, "Where else can we go," because although "built up on lies or half truths" certainly describes the org's teachings, it equally applies to Catholicism and Protestantism. However, from a strictly Biblical point of view, (not atheistic or evolutionist) not everything J.W.'s say is a falsehood. The highlighting of the opposition's scriptural errors (such as immortal soul, going to heaven/hell immediately at death) are what convinced many to turn apostate and leave "Christendom."
J.W.'s don't/can't see any other Bible-based religion as a good alternative, so they make excuses and stick with what they know.

sooner or later we're going to get a jw knocking on our door.
just like when we were jw's doing the knocking, it's good to have a question prepared to get them thinking about their own beliefs.

Considering that the WTBTS taught numerous doctrinal errors via Russell & Rutherford and was no better or worse than their "competitors," what independent evidence proves that God selected them as the "faithful slave? in 1919"
